Our library has activities but I always feel like the librarians HATE being their. Which is really sad because we have a huge children's library. Their summer reading theme this year is oceans or water or splash into reading or something like that.

YOUR librarians seem to do an amazing job of inspiring children to love reading!!

I'm with you on the potty training books. After training 3 kids (there's hope that they will be day AND night trained and I'll only be buying 1 size of diapers by the end of the summer!! I haven't done that in 5.5 years!!!!) I've managed to never buy a potty training book and I don't think we've ever brought one home from the library. :)

A friend of mine uses "dirty" and "wet" instead of pee and poop. You might try that.

My grandfather read Sunshine to me when I was just 4- in 1954. I made him read it again and again until I knew it by heart. Today, as I think of all the literature that caused me to love words this emerges as a favorite- so lyrical and amusing.
